Cross Lander 244x Closer to Reality
May 6, 2004 -- Crosslander Promises New Aro For July. The new Aro Cross Lander or Cross Lander 244x, a model to be sold on the American market, is slated to enter stock production in about two months and a half, after being approved for the United States market in a matter of days, said John Perez, chairman of Cross Lander, the majority shareholder of the plant in Campulung Muscel.
"We are just a few days away from the official approval of the vehicle on the US market, after the tests measuring polluting emissions are over. The tests of the Environmental Protection Agency do not concern the emissions of the Ford engine used in the vehicle but the hydrocarbon emissions of the materials that make up the seats, where a number of problems have been found," Perez said.
He denied rumours of an alleged sale of the plant after the takeover last fall. Cross Lander plans to sell several assets of the Campulung-based company this year that are not indispensable for its production operations.
